Think while you drink — twyd — is a monthly gathering of folk, mainly ex-DoC geeks, to vent their geekery and thus spare the rest of the world much of the rest of the time.
It's on the second Wednesday of each month, or one day either side (cycling Tue, Wed, Thu, Tue&hellip)[maths]. The next few are:
Now we pick a pub in the few days before, but don't do twyd there again for at least two twyds.
We used to go to a different London pub every time on the second Wednesday of each month.
Then we made it more complicated, rotating round various zones, but it was too much like hard work. The aim was to make sure we didn't get stuck in a geographic rut; now we do have more of them east of Kingsway than some would like.
Then we switched to doing the second Thursday of each month, picking a pub a few days before. But it systematically meant some people could never come - hence the rotating geeky day.
